Introduction

This guide demonstrates how to feature a PDF document at the beginning of a guide page.

Reminder

Any changes made to a guide, with the exception of tags and the default language, create a new draft of the guide.

  1. In Editing mode, click on the Details tab at the top of the page. Scroll down to the bottom of the Details tab to the Attached Documents section. Click Add New to open up the Media Manager and click on a file to to add it to the guide. To upload a document to the media manager, click Add New Media to select from your device's files.

    • The "add new media" window displays all viable filetypes; more information on filetype whitelisting can be found on the Category Page.

    • Your uploaded content appears at the bottom of the page.

  2. A document that is attached but not featured simply sits at the end of a guide. This is fine if the document only needs to be kept with the guide for organization, but if the attached document has useful information to the operator, you may want to consider a Featured PDF On the Details tab, click the Feature button on your attached PDF.

    • On the Details tab, click the Feature button on your attached PDF.

    • This creates a full-size PDF viewer on the front of the guide. The PDF document cannot be edited in any way, but it is fully viewable to whoever can read the guide.

    • This is a very useful tool for including large contextual images at the beginning of a guide, like process flows.

  3. In the Attached Documents section, click Edit on your attached document (this opens a new tab). Type in the text field to change the Meta Title, which displays to the user.

    • You can also change the File Name.

    • The Summary field is only visible on this screen, but you can use it for notes, or additional context about the document.

    • Click Upload New File to open the Media Manager and replace your document with a different file.

    • Click Save Changes to finalize.

  4. Open the guide with the PDF to be featured. Click on the Edit button in the top-right of the page, just beneath the site header. Click on the Details tab at the top of the page.

    • Scroll down to the Attached Documents section.

    • Click on the Feature button on the listed PDF.

    • To remove an existing Featured PDF, click on the Don't Feature button on the PDF listed in the Featured section.

    • Click on the Save button to save the changes.

  5. View the Featured PDF on your guide page, just below the guide introduction.
